Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

How Do I Know if I’m a DACA Student?

51Թ defines DACA applicants as:

  • Non-U.S. citizens currently in the United States who do not hold an immigration or student visa.
  • Individuals not defined as a permanent resident, asylee, or refugee.
  • Brought to the U.S. by parents or other relatives and were under age 16 at the time of arrival.
  • May or may not have filed DACA paperwork with the U.S. government.

How to Apply

Follow the instructions on how to applyfor first-year students. Or if you are a transfer student, you can learn about your options in the transfer overview.

On your Future Wildcat Application Login:

  • select "Start a New University of 51Թ Application", then answer the question.
  • After selecting “No,”the following question will appear: Are you a US Permanent Resident, Refugee, DACA Eligible student, Asylee, or ? Select “Yes” to this question.
  • When these two questions appear again, answer in the same manner as described above.

On the Citizenship Information page:

  • answer the question "Are you a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) or Dreamer student?" with a "Yes" response.
  • Then, for the "Other Non-US Citizen Domestic Students" question, check the box at the bottom "I am none of the above."

Complete all remaining sections of the application accurately. You may leave the Social Security Number blank if needed.

DACA Tuition

In November 2022, 51Թ voted to support Proposition 308, which allows for qualifying, non-citizen 51Թ high school graduates to receive in-state tuition at 51Թ universities and community colleges, and in certain cases, also receive state-funded financial aid.

DACA Financial Aid

DACA students are eligible for the President’s Directed Scholarship Fund. For more information about the President’s Directed Scholarship Fund or if you’d like additional support understanding your rights as a DACA student, get in touch with the Immigrant Student Resource Center.
